MCP Server
Vulgate exposes an MCP server so an agent such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor can search and chat with your team’s libraries. You sign in with your Vulgate account. There is no API key to paste.
MCP access requires at least one of your teams to have an active plan, the same plan requirement as the Chat Completions API.
The server URL is https://www.vulgate.ai/api/mcp. Use this exact host. vulgate.ai redirects, and clients reject the connection when the URL does not match.
Connect Cursor
In your MCP configuration, add the Vulgate server with the client id below.
{
"vulgate": {
"url": "https://www.vulgate.ai/api/mcp",
"auth": {
"CLIENT_ID": "17228e1b-47c5-47b8-93de-224d0efa9dd0",
"scopes": ["openid", "email"]
}
}
}
Cursor opens a browser window. Sign in to Vulgate and approve the connection. One connection covers every team you belong to.
Connect Claude
Claude on the web, Desktop, and mobile uses the callback https://claude.ai/api/mcp/auth_callback. Open Settings → Connectors, not Plugins. Click + and choose Add custom connector. Name it Vulgate, paste https://www.vulgate.ai/api/mcp, and choose Use your own OAuth client. Paste ed769867-ad3d-42e9-be7f-3cec30cfc97c and leave the client secret empty. Automatic registration does not work. Sign in to Vulgate and approve the connection.
Claude Code uses a local callback on a fixed port. Add the server with this command, then run claude mcp login vulgate or open /mcp inside Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http \
--client-id ed769867-ad3d-42e9-be7f-3cec30cfc97c \
--callback-port 8080 \
vulgate https://www.vulgate.ai/api/mcp
Connect ChatGPT
Automatic registration does not work. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps and create an app. Developer mode must be on for your account. Name it Vulgate, paste https://www.vulgate.ai/api/mcp, and choose OAuth with your own OAuth client. Paste 3e78bb6b-b8ef-4385-a8f0-5163b5cf7ebb and leave the secret empty. If the form shows a callback, it must be https://chatgpt.com/connector/oauth/WTOy-cm4AtSI. Sign in to Vulgate and approve the connection.
Codex uses the same client. Add this to ~/.codex/config.toml, then run codex mcp login vulgate:
mcp_oauth_callback_port = 5555
[mcp_servers.vulgate]
url = "https://www.vulgate.ai/api/mcp"
[mcp_servers.vulgate.oauth]
client_id = "3e78bb6b-b8ef-4385-a8f0-5163b5cf7ebb"
callback_url = "http://127.0.0.1:5555/callback/X7WXjphLiqlj"
Grok, Hermes Agent, and OpenClaw
These clients are not available yet. Vulgate does not register OAuth clients automatically, and none of them has one yet.
